Ambiguous (Chapter 1)

Pamela was pacing back and forth. She was able to get pregnant easily with Pearl without even trying, but this time she's actually trying and it's not happening. Spencer hated watching his wife so upset, especially since she'd usually take all of her frustrations out on him and this time was no different. So, Spencer decided to come up with a quick plan, one that he wasn't proud of, that'd possibly get him a happy wife, happy life.

"Hey, how about we adopt?!" Spencer loudly spoke with confidence in his voice until he looked into the wicked eyes of his wife and was forced to look away.

"Spencer! Are you trying to embarrass me in front of my family?! No, no, no. We must do this thing privately..." Pamela said, as she continued to pace back and forth.

Spencer looked on again, nervously this time, and saw Pamela abruptly stop with a diabolical smirk on her face, one that gave him utter chills, "I got it! Let's just... take one."

"You mean kidnapping?!" Spencer shouted as his eyes went wide and his heart pounded in his chest.

"Shhh." Pamela whispered, running over to put a hand over his mouth. "We don't have to call it that. Let's just think of it as giving the less fortunate a better life."

Spencer shock his head. He had done a lot of questionable things in his life just to please his wife, but this one... this one could literally make him wind up in jail. "Oh, stop it. You're gonna do as I say and that's final... unless... unless you never wanna see your daughter Pearl again."

Spencer froze at her paralyzing words, knowing very well that her family was rich enough, and evil enough, to make whatever Pamela was thinking a reality. "Fine." He stuttered, as he began to sweat heavily.

"Perfect!" Pamela shouted with an obnoxious look on her face. She then grabbed her gym bag and headed out the front door, leaving him lost in thought.

Elsewhere in the neighborhood, Dylan was struggling to keep a roof over his head for himself and his baby daughter, Missy, after his beloved wife, Melissa, was sent into a tragic coma due to a drunk driver. So, when there was a family-friendly party in town, also accepting donations for the poor, he just had to go and so he cancelled his overtime schedule at his low paying job, happily replacing it with some much-needed father-daughter time.

But Dylan had no idea that the party was set-up by Pamela and Spencer as a way to kidnap one of the children. "Oh, thank you for coming." Pamela said, shaking Dylan's hand firmly.

Spencer lurked from behind a wall at the awkward interaction between his wife and the stranger, who just so happened to be smoking hot... in a disheveled sorta way.

"Here, let me take your precious daughter to the back." Frankie, the babysitter, said as she walked up with Pearl holding her hand.

"Let's go play!" Pearl shouted, as Dylan placed his toddler down on the floor.

"Okay, just be careful." Dylan said, as he intently watched the little girls and grown lady run off into the back.

Throughout the night, Dylan raised enough money to pay for all of his essentials and then some. He was one happy guy. But when it was time for everybody to go home... "Hey, where's my daughter?" He asked, as he saw all the dozens of kids return except for his own.

Pamela immediately made it look like the backdoor was left open and soon enough the police were called, searching extensively throughout the town and posting things on social media to get the word out asap.

"This can't be happening to me!" Dylan sobbed, feeling like the worst father of all-time for putting money over his own daughter's safety.

Spencer saw the young man breaking down and couldn't help but walk over to see if he was okay. "Hey, I... I'm really sorry for your loss."

Dylan squinted his eyes, not in the mood to talk. "Sorry, but who on God's green earth are you?"

"Oh, I'm her husband, Pamela's husband." Spencer stuttered, already regretting coming out from the shadows.

"And where were you when my baby went missing, huh?" Dylan questioned, as he wiped away tears.

"I can't even remember..." Spencer said, lying through his teeth. He had to. He was literally the one who lured the little girl away from the grown man in front of him. "But it was probably something stupid."

Dylan nodded his head. Spencer was right; there was absolutely nothing more important than keeping a watchful eye on his young daughter. "It's not all your fault... I should've never came to this dumb Amish town; I was much better off in my futuristic city where there's cameras and whatnot."

Spencer couldn't take this messy situation anymore and decided to come clean. "Dylan, I..."

"Spencer!" Pamela shouted from the kitchen, stopping him just in time from confessing, which was a total coincidence.

"Oh, coming!" Spencer yelled back nervously as he sprinted into the kitchen.

Dylan could usually tell when someone was being abused in a relationship, but since his daughter was missing he completely missed the signs. "Please come back to me, Missy." He thought to himself.

"Look, I need you to go into the attic and watch our girls, not chat away without that random..." Pamela said, as she continued to wash the dishes.

"That random? Have you already forgotten that we just kidnapped his kid?" Spencer whispered, feeling like he was about to have a panic attack.

Pamela freaked out at the mention while Dylan was still nearby and grabbed a kitchen knife, threatening to stab him, even in his sleep, if he ever brought up Missy belonging to Dylan again, especially with company.

"Fine, fine! I'm sorry!" Spencer exclaimed, backing away with his hands in the air.

"Ah, now that's better." Pamela said sweetly, forcing a smile on her face.

Dylan and Frankie were in different parts of the house, but still heard thunderous noise coming from the kitchen area, so they both went to check it out and found... stay tuned for chapter 2!
